April 8, 2026 Dean of International Affairs, Eric Chu, Visits Embassies of Three Allied Nations to Strengthen Academic Collaboration and International Student Recruitment

Authorized by President Wuu Dong-Sing of National Chi Nan University (NCNU), Dean of International Affairs Eric Chu embarked on an international education outreach mission to allied nations on April 8, 2026. During this visit, he met with the embassies of Saint Kitts and Nevis, Kingdom of Eswatini, and Republic of Paraguay in the Republic of China (Taiwan). The visits aimed to actively promote higher education collaboration with diplomatic allies, strengthen international recruitment for NCNU’s English-taught master’s degree programs, and further advance academic partnerships within the global community of allied nations.

At 10:00 a.m. that morning, Dean of International Affairs Eric Chu first visited H.E. Ambassador Donya L. Francis of Saint Kitts and Nevis to the Republic of China (Taiwan). During the meeting, both parties engaged in in-depth discussions on cross-border higher education collaboration, opportunities for students from Saint Kitts and Nevis to pursue studies in Taiwan, and the promotion of academic exchange. The dialogue laid a solid foundation for future cooperation between the two sides.

Subsequently, at 11:00 a.m., Dean of International Affairs Zhu Haicheng visited the Embassy of the Kingdom of Eswatini. As the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Republic of China (Taiwan) has not yet assumed office, the meeting was hosted by First Secretary Abigail on behalf of the embassy. During the visit, both sides exchanged views on potential directions for educational cooperation. Relevant information was also promptly conveyed by the embassy to the Eswatini government, laying a solid foundation for future collaboration.

At 2:00 p.m., Dean of International Affairs Zhu Haicheng continued his visits at the Embassy of the Republic of Paraguay. He met with H.E. Ambassador Darío Filártiga Ruiz Díaz and his spouse, Dr. Gisele Mousques de Filártiga. In addition to exchanging views on higher education collaboration and international recruitment strategies, the Ambassador and his spouse expressed their intention to attend NCNU’s commencement ceremony on May 30. They also showed interest in meeting Grecia Insaurralde, a junior student from Paraguay currently studying in the Department of Foreign Languages and Literature at NCNU under the Taiwan Scholarship program administered by Paraguay’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This visit aims to gain deeper insight into NCNU’s commitment to nurturing international   students.

All meetings during this visit focused on the international promotion of two of NCNU’s English-taught master’s degree programs: the BAITIA Program (Master’s Degree Program in Business Administration and Information Technology Innovation and Application) offered by the College of Management, and the Intelligent Semiconductor and Green Technology Master’s Program offered by the College of Science and Technology.   In addition, in-depth discussions were conducted on key topics including international student recruitment, short-term exchange programs, dual-degree arrangements, and the cultivation of cross-border talent.

Dean of International Affairs Eric Chu stated that National Chi Nan University (NCNU) continues to advance the development of higher international education by leveraging its English-taught master’s degree programs, which integrate artificial intelligence, information technology, and industry applications to cultivate globally competitive professionals. Looking ahead, NCNU will further strengthen its partnerships with allied nations, expand sources of international students, and steadily enhance the University’s visibility and influence in the global higher education landscape.
